Happy Hedgehog Sports has been working in partnership with primary schools since 2011. Directed by experienced teachers, we are fully aware of the individual needs and requirements of schools. We’ve addressed all the key concerns you might have when partnering with an external provider. Our Directors and leadership team have hands-on experience with critical areas such as safeguarding and SEN, ensuring our staff receive thorough and effective training you can trust. We are fully insured and our coaches are DBS checked. We can offer the following:
Clubs
We run a variety of sporting activities before school, at lunchtime, and after school. We provide all the necessary equipment for these clubs and handle communication directly with parents, removing administrative burden from schools. Additionally, we are fully insured for your peace of mind.
Teaching Cover
We offer sports sessions that can be integrated into the PE curriculum or run as co- or extra-curricular activities. This provides an affordable way to deliver high-quality PE to your children and provide statutory PPA release time.
Curriculum Delivery
Our coaches are trained to high standards, enabling us to deliver highly effective Physical Education lessons in line with national curriculum requirements. We also support and enhance teachers’ CPD through team teaching.
Staff Training
We provide staff INSET training tailored to primary school PE, delivered by our senior leadership team and PE specialists, all holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

This commitment to excellence is reflected in our team. The senior leader of our Dance and Gymnastics programme holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), while our Head of Sports has extensive experience in primary coaching and holds a range of qualifications, including a UEFA B Licence.
We dedicate significant time to carefully selecting the right coaches. We look for individuals whom children can engage with and respect—enthusiastic, personable professionals with integrity and a strong commitment to quality.
Once recruited, every coach undergoes comprehensive training in key areas such as safeguarding, first aid, and effective behaviour management, ensuring they are fully prepared to work in primary school settings.
All coaches complete a probationary period, during which they have the opportunity to demonstrate that they meet the high standards expected at Happy Hedgehog Sports.
